Why be a Member?

If you spend a major portion of your professional time in planning, directing, executing, interpreting or presenting social or marketing research projects, then you are eligible for membership.

Note: All members are bound by the Code of Practice. The Executive Council reserves the right of admission.

Membership Categories

There are 2 levels of membership in MSRA:

  • Corporate Membership
  • Individual Membership

1. Corporate Membership

This is divided into the following categories:

  • Full Corporate Membership

    A Full Corporate Member shall enjoy the following rights:

    • Vote in AGMs and SGMs.
    • Have its employees participate in MSRA events at 10% discount rate.
    • Access to MSRA resources.

    Requirements for Full Corporate Membership:

    • Duly incorporated entity in Kenya, Uganda or Tanzania.
    • Have practised research for minimum two years.
    • Have carried out at least 10 successful research studies on behalf of clients.
    • Have met requirements to be issued research permit by NACOSTI or such other relevant regulatory body in the respective country.
    • Comply with the respective country’s Tax requirements.
    • Admission guarantees a seat in the Executive Council. Successful Applicants are required to nominate at least one representative (who should be an MSRA Full Individual Member) to the Council.
    • They will need 3 references of clients that they have worked for.
    • Comply with MSRA Research and Ethics Codes.
    • Pay annual membership fee as stipulated under Membership Fee guidelines.
    • Applications will be considered in the next Council meeting following receipt of completed application forms with remittance by the MSRA Secretariat.

    How to Apply:

    To apply, interested applicants need to download the Full Corporate membership application form, fill, scan and send it to info@msra.or.ke or deliver to the MSRA Secretariat, located at the Dalberg Research offices: Whitefield Place, 3rd Flr, School Lane, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.

    Annual Membership Fees:

    • Agency with over 20 employees: Ksh 90,000.00
    • Agency with between 6 and 19 employees: Ksh 70,000.00
    • Agency with up to 5 employees: KSh 50,000.00

  • Interim Corporate Membership

    An Interim Corporate Member shall enjoy the following rights:

    • Have its employees participate in MSRA events at 5 % discount rate.
    • Access to MSRA resources.

    Requirement for Interim Corporate Membership:

    • Duly incorporated entity in Kenya, Uganda or Tanzania.
    • Have carried out at least one successful research study on behalf of clients.
    • Have met requirements to be issued research permit by NACOSTI or such other relevant regulatory body in the respective country.
    • Comply with the respective country’s Tax requirements.

    • They will need 1 referee from a client they have worked for.
    • Comply with MSRA Research and Ethics Codes.

    How to Apply:

    1. To apply, interested applicants need to download the Interim Corporate membership application form.
    2. Fill, scan and send it to info@msra.or.ke or
    3. Deliver to the MSRA Secretariat, located at the Dalberg Research offices:
      Whitefield Place, 3rd Flr, School Lane, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.

    Annual Membership Fees:

  • Client Corporate Membership

    A Client Corporate Member shall enjoy the following rights:

    • Comply with the respective country’s Tax requirements.
    • Admission guarantees a seat in the Executive Council. Successful Applicants are required to nominate at one representative (who should be an MSRA Full Individual Member) to the Council.
    • Comply with MSRA Research and Ethics Codes.
    • Pay annual membership fee as stipulated under Membership Fee guidelines.
    • Applications will be considered in the next Council meeting following receipt of completed application forms with remittance by the MSRA Secretariat.

    How to Apply:

    1. To apply, interested applicants need to download the Client Corporate membership application form.
    2. Fill, scan and send it to info@msra.or.ke or
    3. Deliver to the MSRA Secretariat, located at the Dalberg Research offices:
      Whitefield Place, 3rd Flr, School Lane, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.

    Annual Membership Fees:

    • Client Corporate: Ksh 75,000.00

2. Individual Membership

This is divided into the following categories:

  • Full Membership

    • Applicants must be individuals practicing social and market research with more than 2 years past or present experience within a research agency.
    • Applications must be counter-signed by two referees who have been Full MSRA members for the last 2 years or two clients for whom the applicant has conducted research for in the past 6 months.
    • All applicants should attach their CV when sending the application.
    • Following receipt of completed application forms, the MSRA membership committee shall review the application and applicants informed if their application was successful or not.
    • Upon notification of approval of membership, applicants are required to make payment within 2 weeks and provide proof of payment to MSRA.
    • Successful applicants will participate in MSRA’s activities and events and enjoy discounted rates.
    • They can also vote in General Meetings.
    • To apply, interested applicants need to download the Full membership application form, fill and send it together with their CVs to info@msra.or.ke or deliver to the MSRA Secretariat, located at the Dalberg Research offices: 28 Whitefield Place, 3rd Flr, School Lane, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.
    • Annual Membership Fee: KES 3,000 ($30)

  • Associate Members

    • Applicants must either be:
      • Individuals permanently employed in a research agency in a non research capacity
      • Individuals practicing academic in social & market research
      • Social & Market Research staff within organizations other than research agencies
      • Individual consultant practicing social & market Research
    • Applications must be counter-signed by two referees who have been Full MSRA members for the last 2 years or two clients for whom the applicant has conducted research for in the past 6 months.
    • All applicants should attach their CV when sending the application.
    • Following receipt of completed application forms, the MSRA membership committee shall review the application and applicants informed if their application was successful or not.
    • Upon notification of approval of membership, applicants are required to make payment within 2 weeks and provide proof of payment to MSRA.
    • Successful applicants will participate in MSRA’s activities and events and enjoy discounted rates.
    • To apply, interested applicants need to download the Associate membership application form, fill and send it together with their CVs to info@msra.or.ke or deliver to the MSRA Secretariat, located at the Dalberg Research offices: 28 Whitefield Place, 3rd Flr, School Lane, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.
    • Annual Membership Fee: KES 3,000 ($30)

  • Research Operations Contract Staff Members

    • Applicants must be working as market and/or social research interviewers, team leaders, supervisor/assistants data entry clerks or field managers.
    • They will need at least 1 sponsor who must be an MSRA Fellow or Full members.
    • Successful applicants will participate in MSRA’s activities and events and enjoy discounted rates
    • Cannot vote in General Meetings
    • Applicants must be individuals engaged in contract field & data management operations within a research agency (team leaders, interviewers, recruiters, moderators, data processors, transcribers, supervisors etc).
    • Applications must be counter-signed by two referees who have been Full MSRA members for the last 2 years or two clients for whom the applicant has conducted research for in the past 6 months.
    • All applicants should attach their CV when sending the application.
    • Following receipt of completed application forms, the MSRA membership committee shall review the application and applicants informed if their application was successful or not.
    • Upon notification of approval of membership, applicants are required to make payment within 2 weeks and provide proof of payment to MSRA.
    • Successful applicants will participate in MSRA’s activities and events and enjoy discounted rates.
    • To apply, interested applicants need to download the Research Operations Contract Staff Membership application form, fill and send it together with their CVs to info@msra.or.ke or deliver to the MSRA Secretariat, located at the Dalberg Research offices: 28 Whitefield Place, 3rd Flr, School Lane, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya.
    • Annual Membership Fee: KES 1,000 ($10)

  • Overseas Members

    • Applicants must be residing outside Kenya and must be individuals practicing social and market research with more than 3 years past or present experience within a research agency.
    • Applications must be counter-signed by two referees who have been Full MSRA members for the last 2 years or two clients for whom the applicant has conducted research for in the past 6 months.
    • All applicants should attach their CV when sending the application.
    • Following receipt of completed application forms, the MSRA membership committee shall review the application and applicants informed if their application was successful or not.
    • Upon notification of approval of membership, applicants are required to make payment within 2 weeks and provide proof of payment to MSRA.
    • Successful applicants will participate in MSRA’s activities and events and enjoy discounted rates.
    • To apply, interested applicants need to download the Overseas Membership application form, fill and send it together with their CVs to info@msra.or.ke.
    • Annual Membership Fee: KES 3,000 ($30)

  • Fellow Membership

    Membership is through invitation and unanimous agreement of the Executive Council.
